You can make very strong solutions but it's in the instructions.
Q. What size particles does your machine produce?

Q. Please could you tell me is a battery included and what type and voltage of battery is required?
A. The unit requires a 9v battery (not included) which is the oblong shaped battery available at all newsagents etc.
Q. Does it come with an on/off switch and a guarantee?
A. It has an on/off switch and comes with a guarantee to work when you put the battery in.
Q. What voltage is the transformer inside the unit?
A. It takes a 9v battery and transforms it into 28 volts
Q. What water are you supposed to use with the Colloidal Silver Maker?
A. If you use normal water the conductivity is too great and the particles become bigger and therefore harder to absorb and therefore it is not so effective. It is advised to use distilled water as it is the purest available.
Q. I am having some problems with my CS generator. If I put a new battery in the unit, it generates CS in distilled water. With a used battery it generates CS in tap or bottled water but not in distilled water. Heating the distilled water solves the problem but it would be very inconvenient if I had to heat the water every time and I am sure the unit was not produced with that idea in mind. What suggestions can you offer?
A. Tap water is very easy to produce CS water as it is very conductive but the particles are too big and not so easily absorbed. Distilled water does need to be heated otherwise there is not enough conductivity there. To get around this problem I will add a teaspoon of tap water to the distilled water to make it slightly more conductive. The less conductive and the slower the bubbles/smoke the smaller they are and therefore easier to absorb.
Q. Can my silver maker be used to make colloidal gold? If so, is it simply a question of using gold electrodes rather than silver ones or is it more complicated?
A. In theory if you got some gold rods it should work. the 9v battery is amplified in the unit up to 24v and if this is the correct voltage required to make CSG yes it will work. The only real way to check is to buy some rods and see. The purer the better.

What are Total Dissolved Solids
Total Dissolved Solids are the total weight of all solids that are dissolved in a given volume of water, expressed in units of mg per unit volume of water (mg/L), also referred to as parts per million.
1. "Dissolved solids" refer to any minerals, salts, metals, cat ions or anions dissolved in water. This includes anything present in water other than the pure water (H20) molecule and suspended solids.
(Suspended solids are any particles/substances that are neither dissolved nor settled in the water, such as wood pulp.)
2. In general, the total dissolved solids concentration is the sum of the cat ions (positively charged) and anions (negatively charged) ions in the water.
3. Parts per Million (ppm) is the weight-to-weight ratio of any ion to water.
4. Conductivity is usually about 100 times the total cat ions or anions expressed as equivalents. Total dissolved solids (TDS) in ppm usually ranges from 0.5 to 1.0 times the electrical conductivity.
Where do Dissolved Solids come from?
1. Some dissolved solids come from organic sources such as leaves, silt, plankton, and industrial waste and sewage. Other sources come from runoff from urban areas, road salts used on street during the winter, and fertilizers and pesticides used on lawns and farms.
2. Dissolved solids also come from inorganic materials such as rocks and air that may contain calcium bicarbonate, nitrogen, iron phosphorous, sulphur, and other minerals. Many of these materials form salts, which are compounds that contain both a metal and a non metal. Salts usually dissolve in water forming ions. Ions are particles that have a positive or negative charge.
3. Water may also pick up metals such as lead or copper as they travel through pipes used to distribute water to consumers.
Why should you measure the TDS level in your water?
The EPA Secondary Regulations advise a maximum contamination level
(MCL) of 500mg/litre (500 parts per million (ppm)) for TDS. Numerous
water supplies exceed this level. When TDS levels exceed 1000mg/L it
is generally considered unfit for human consumption. A high level of TDS is an indicator of potential concerns, and warrants further investigation. Most often, high levels of TDS are caused by the presence of potassium, chlorides and sodium. These ions have little or no short-term effects, but toxic ions (lead arsenic, cadmium, nitrate and others) may also be dissolved in the water.
The following are reasons why it is helpful to constantly test for TDS:
1. Taste/Health High TDS results in undesirable taste which could be salty, bitter, or metallic. It could also indicate the presence of toxic minerals. The EPA's recommended maximum of TDS in water is 500mg/L (500ppm).
2. Filter performance Test your water to make sure the filter system has a high rejection rate and know when to change your filter (or membrane) cartridges.
3. Hardness High TDS indicates Hard water, which causes scale build up in pipes and valves, inhibiting performance. Just think how much a new Autoclave would be!!
4. Aquaculture A constant level of minerals is necessary for aquatic life. The water in an aquarium should have the same levels of TDS and pH as the fish and reef's original habitat.
5. Hydroponics TDS is the best measurement of the nutrient concentration in a hydroponic solution.
6. Pools and Spas TDS levels must be monitored to prevent maintenance problems.
7. Commercial/IndustrialHigh TDS levels could impede the functions of certain applications. Expensive Medical and Dental equipment may not function correctly. To use a TDS meter should be a matter of routine maintence.

Q. Can I connect a resevoir to an auto fill distiller?
A. Yes as long as there is a head of pressure, so needs to be higher than the distiller. Solenoid works only when the float activates it. But a reasonable flow is needed to fill the boiling chamber. Can also be manually filled.
Q. I have the distiller hooked up to the mains. On first operating it, what is the correct procedure for sterilizing it?
A. Set the distiller up and run the first cycle with the fan switched off. This causes steam only to enter the holding tank, this will sterilize the tank. After approx 40 mins. Start the fan and distill in the normal way
Q. In the manual it talks about a filter which from the diagrams appears to go on top of the distiller. I received a bag with charcoal for the filter but not filter itself. Was this left out of the package by mistake?

The only filter is the post charcoal filter. You can buy pre-filters but we do not supply them, as it is not needed.
The holding tank has a small metal filter which is ¼ filled with charcoal. It is housed in the square box like structure within the holding tank
Q. do I need to replace the coconut filter?
The charcoal we supply is actually made from coconuts, so the only changing needed is the charcoal inside the stainless steel filter. The process is quite straight forward, by lifting the boiling chamber section off the collection chamber you will expose a cylinder shaped filter in one corner. This filter will have a mesh ‘lid’ if you like. Remove this lid and empty out the charcoal. Then add fresh charcoal to the cylinder and replace the mesh lid. Replace the filter back to its position and then replace the boiling chamber to sit over the filter as it was before.

the P.B. is used a lot - should it be completely emptied out when not in use - say, going on holiday or something like that. Thanks.
What could cause rust.. Would it help to empty it completely or is that never required.
A.
If a unit is left with a small amount of water in the boiling chamber, this could cause rust, The holding tank is stainless steel and is fine to hold water for up to 6 months with no contamination. All I would recommend is to drain and dry the boiling chamber if being left not used for some time. The holding tank will be fine.
Q. I emptied out my holding tank today to find a film of rust on the floor and walls of the holding tank and as you say rust will be there if left for a time.
Q1. Can I get rid of this rust?

Polar Bear have been making these distillers for over 30 years, Many are still working well at over 25 years old. As most of these units are in regular use only minor maintenance is needed. How It Works
Manufactured from high grade stainless steel, your model 200-L is built to last a lifetime. The process begins as source water is fed into the Distiller. This water flows into a pre-heating tube. Prior to entering the boiling chamber, the water is pre-heated to near boiling point using energy from the element within the boiling chamber. Within the boiling chamber the water reaches boling point. This makes the distilling process more energy efficient. As the water reaches boiling point in the boiling chamber, steam rises and makes its way to the top of the Distiller. The ongoing and uninterrupted distilling cycle allows sufficient water is produced, in a short period of time, such that the steam rises up through the two-foot steam tower, assuring that all contaminants are eliminated prior to the water entering the cooling coils. Within the coils the cooling fan system condenses the stream into the purest of distilled water.

We will need to open each distiller box, and completely
remove the current mains cable and re-hard wire a UK
specification moulded 3 pin plug. These units will then be
re-boxed. (New packaging will be used, units will not be
shipped in the original packaging).
All distillers come with a full normal 12 month warranty, with
a full set a accessories, automatic fill fitting kit (Saddle Valve)
, charcoal and de-scaler, plus full Polar Bear Instructions.
This unit will produce 30 litres of distilled water per 24
hours, and have an on onboard 10 litre holding tank with
drain tap. This tap can be mounted in two positions, either

What are Total Dissolved Solids
Total Dissolved Solids are the total weight of all solids that are dissolved in a given volume of water, expressed in units of mg per unit volume of water (mg/L), also referred to as parts per million.
1. "Dissolved solids" refer to any minerals, salts, metals, cat ions or anions dissolved in water. This includes anything present in water other than the pure water (H20) molecule and suspended solids.
(Suspended solids are any particles/substances that are neither dissolved nor settled in the water, such as wood pulp.)
2. In general, the total dissolved solids concentration is the sum of the cat ions (positively charged) and anions (negatively charged) ions in the water.
3. Parts per Million (ppm) is the weight-to-weight ratio of any ion to water.
4. Conductivity is usually about 100 times the total cat ions or anions expressed as equivalents. Total dissolved solids (TDS) in ppm usually ranges from 0.5 to 1.0 times the electrical conductivity.
Where do Dissolved Solids come from?
1. Some dissolved solids come from organic sources such as leaves, silt, plankton, and industrial waste and sewage. Other sources come from runoff from urban areas, road salts used on street during the winter, and fertilizers and pesticides used on lawns and farms.
2. Dissolved solids also come from inorganic materials such as rocks and air that may contain calcium bicarbonate, nitrogen, iron phosphorous, sulphur, and other minerals. Many of these materials form salts, which are compounds that contain both a metal and a non metal. Salts usually dissolve in water forming ions. Ions are particles that have a positive or negative charge.
3. Water may also pick up metals such as lead or copper as they travel through pipes used to distribute water to consumers.
Why should you measure the TDS level in your water?
The EPA Secondary Regulations advise a maximum contamination level
(MCL) of 500mg/litre (500 parts per million (ppm)) for TDS. Numerous
water supplies exceed this level. When TDS levels exceed 1000mg/L it
is generally considered unfit for human consumption. A high level of TDS is an indicator of potential concerns, and warrants further investigation. Most often, high levels of TDS are caused by the presence of potassium, chlorides and sodium. These ions have little or no short-term effects, but toxic ions (lead arsenic, cadmium, nitrate and others) may also be dissolved in the water.
The following are reasons why it is helpful to constantly test for TDS:
1. Taste/Health High TDS results in undesirable taste which could be salty, bitter, or metallic. It could also indicate the presence of toxic minerals. The EPA's recommended maximum of TDS in water is 500mg/L (500ppm).
2. Filter performance Test your water to make sure the filter system has a high rejection rate and know when to change your filter (or membrane) cartridges.
3. Hardness High TDS indicates Hard water, which causes scale build up in pipes and valves, inhibiting performance. Just think how much a new Autoclave would be!!
4. Aquaculture A constant level of minerals is necessary for aquatic life. The water in an aquarium should have the same levels of TDS and pH as the fish and reef's original habitat.
5. Hydroponics TDS is the best measurement of the nutrient concentration in a hydroponic solution.
6. Pools and Spas TDS levels must be monitored to prevent maintenance problems.
7. Commercial/IndustrialHigh TDS levels could impede the functions of certain applications. Expensive Medical and Dental equipment may not function correctly. To use a TDS meter should be a matter of routine maintence.
